In my former life, I was a Microsoft Certified Professional with a lot of other certifications that you wouldn't recognize or frankly care about. I worked in Global Network Operations, Network Administration and as a PC Technician, I've seen all kinds of photo-shopped gags such as the infamous Bonsai Kitty (not for the faint of heart, even if it is FAKE,) and a few things that weren't so obviously photo-shopped. This is one of those things that I can't quite get my brain around... Normally, I would've dismissed this as just another one of those picture gags. However the source of the photo and story stopped me in my tracks. NBC News, don't they generally checks their sources? Except with the Iraq war and that whole WMD Debauchle... (and I can think of a few people in the presidential cabinet that swore that was the honest truth.) The Scary thing is that apparently it's not the first winged Kitty in China. My mind automatically flits to conspiracy theories and government cover-ups. The USA is falling behind in so many categories, public education, salaries, genetic mutations.... Is this mutation really caused by chemicals exposure, nasty stuff leeched into the water and food supplies from their environmentally friendly, Electronics "Recycling" Operations?" or is it Evolution at its finest? I can't think of too many other creatures with the potential of being more predatory than a Cat with wings. Is the man upstairs trying to tell us something? Is Mother Nature extremely pissed? She signed Senate Bill 5651 which limits the # of in tact adult dogs in one location to 50 dogs. Washington State is the 3rd state in the country to pass such legislation. This same bill also includes humanitarian requirements for breeding practices, Adds language clarifying the space, exercise and primary enclosure requirements are for dogs kept in an enclosure the majority of the day. And allows Adult dogs and Puppies to intermingle for the purpose of socialization.
Puppy mills are horrible places that do horrible things to dogs and finally having some legislation to make certain that these dogs aren't kept in tiny cages 24X7 is good news. I doubt that it goes as far as reputable breeders would like in cleaning up the industry, but I think it's at least a step in the right direction.
upon further reading, an ammendment to the bill detailing these requirements, appears to have been squashed, so it looks like it's more of a "Paper Bill" without any enforcement, I'd like to see it outline the size of the kennel, the amount of exercise and play time each dog needs each day, mandatory medical care for these puppies and limited #'s of whelping seasons for the females, but that didn't fly. I still think it's a step in the right direction but only a tiny one.

Java is a 4 year old female, Black Lab, with a pedigree that reads like a who's-who in the Dog World. She comes from a line of National Field Champions and her Father is a well known NW Field Trialer. Java hasn't been competing this year, but she still has what it takes. She can really light up a room with her antics and she's our youngest resident adventure dog. Here's a video I took this afternoon of her playing in her pool. Dog playing in swimming pool You Gotta love this Dog!I did notice that his refridgerator looked a lot emptier than ours... Didn't see any raw ribeye steaks in there...
I have a hunch that "Peach" probably ate more than his share of groceries before his Human managed to work all of the kinks out of this behavior...

and Cesar Millan, "The Dog Whisperer," that were taken at Seattle Dog Winterfest 2009.
If you look really close at the one of Steve and Cesar standing together, you'll see an extra hand on Cesar's shoulder... Yep that's me with my hand on Cesar's Shoulder!. ( I cropped myself out... but it's my perogative as I'm the Webmaster!)
I've been busy fielding phone calls and emails. Steve has been busy seeing a lot of new training clients, as those Xmas Puppies are begining to grow into their paws. Winterfest 2009 went well for us and it was sure great to meet those of you who attended. It totally blew my mind when 2 people mentioned the Oscar and Iggy video on our blog. 2 people out of the 50 or so that had seen it at that point. Wow what are the odds on that?
I'm still working on more Video's and Pictures, but I've got so many of them, that sorting through them all is a chore and half. My Cheapo $60 camera takes okay stills, but I don't seem to get accurate colors and it's absolutely worthless in our high-speed environment. I click the button and it takes the picture about 20 seconds later. It can take up to a minute or more in a Low Light environment.
Steve ordered us a Nice Sony HD camcorder with a built in Hard Disk, and a Tripod. I may actually be able to perform a pan and zoom, without making the viewers Nauseaous. I think he has plans to make some dog training video's somewhere down the line. I went out to tape a session the other day, with Steve and a little terrier, that is here for some aggression issues. By the time I threw in the other set of rechargable batteries & got out there, the dog was already meeting with Starbuck and doing great. Sometimes, Steve amazes even me.

I was a little surprised that I have to host Video's elsewhere and link to them... well live and learn... This video is of a couple of our favorite Canine Friends romping in the snow at our ranch. The big Mastiff is "Iggy," and she's about the sweetest girl in the world. I've got a couple pictures of her playing with Ruby in the "More Snow Dogs" Photo Collection on the pictures page. Oscar is one of the most handsome mini-aussie shepherd's, that I think I've ever seen. It's really difficult to get a decent picture of him as he never stands still. I hope to be posting a few more video's as my work schedule allows...

After careful consideration, Millie B/ was selected Adventure Dog Ranch's "Dog of the Month" for November 2008. Originally from Australia, a great land where such unneccessary, painful, medical procedures for dogs, (think Ear Cropping" and "Tail Docking,") have been OUTLAWED! Way to go Australia! We're very glad to have Millie B. Here in Marysville with us this week. She's now a Frequent guest and a very loving and playful pooch.
